Feasibility Study of Tram along Jumeirah Road

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) commissioned RMC to undertake a feasibility study of a Tram running along Jumeirah Tram based on the planned phasing of Dubai Tram and the latest land use data. A number of alternative alignments was studied including a one-way system running along Jumeirah Road and Al Wasl Road and each alignment was evaluated against ridership passenger demand, right-of-way requirements, insertion and cost.

Extension of the Tram along Jumeirah Road is part of the overall Dubai transit network linking numerous commercial, residential and leisure centres in Jumeirah and Umm Sequim areas to the rest of Dubai. Tram stations were located near major attractions such as Burj Al Arab, Mercato shopping mall and Jumeirah Beach Hotel to provide convenient and efficient transport system to access key destinations. Furthermore, with the connection to Mall of Emirates station passengers can directly transfer between Tram and Dubai Metro Red Line.
